Founded in 2012 by two university professors who never chose between research and industry, IDS has grown into a recognized voice in software testing and engineering practice.

The full story
IDS was founded in 2012 by two university professors, Giorgio Brajnik and Andrea Baruzzo, who kept one foot in academic research and one in the software industry rather than choosing between them. That’s grown into a team of software engineers and researchers, holding PhDs, computer science degrees, and ISTQB certifications, including AI specialists focused on the tooling behind our products. Our work on testing for the Square Kilometre Array Observatory, the world’s largest radio telescope project, won the Best Paper Award at INCOSE 2020. We coordinate SKAO’s Testing Community of Practice, roughly 140 engineers across the project, and provide advanced software engineering expertise. Our engineers working on the SKAO project have also earned several distinguished mentions and awards, recognizing both the quality of their software and the excellence of their contribution.
